Giacomo Bonaventura is reportedly close to agreeing a new contract to extend his stay at Fiorentina for at least another year.

The 33-year-old is currently only tied to the Stadio Artemio Franchi until June 2023, having arrived as a free agent from Milan in 2020.

He has impressed so far this season with three goals and an assist in 18 appearances between Serie A and the Europa Conference League.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, Bonaventura and his agent have been in talks with the club for several weeks and are closing on a new agreement.

It would be a contract to June 2024, with an option to extend for another season after that too.

A product of the Atalanta youth academy, ‘Jack’ Bonaventura had loans at Pergocrema and Padova, but spent most of his playing career with Milan from 2014 to 2020.

The attacking midfielder also has 14 senior caps for Italy under his belt.
