“We did well, but have to build on this and continue making up lost ground before the Christmas break,” Bonaventura told Mediaset Premium.

“We played 4-4-2 and were very organised, pressing with determination and causing real problems for Samp. It was a deserved victory, we found some good passing moves. We’re on the right track.

“We have some very strong strikers, so if we play with two attacking wingers then we can get them heavily involved in the game.

“We must give our all and believe we can qualify for Europe.”
