“I am happy, as we did well this evening. It is a pity that we conceded that goal late on and we could’ve had a fifth with Carlos Bacca. If we play like this, then we can beat anybody.
“We changed system because there are three strikers on form at the moment. With more forwards, we can pull more players into the attacking areas.”
This is the first time the Rossoneri scored four goals in a single Serie A match since their 5-4 win over Parma in September 2014.
“The objective is to win all the next games leading up to the Christmas break. I am convinced we’ll do better in the second half of the season, especially as we face the big teams on our own turf.”
Bonaventura and Alessio Cerci were used as attacking wingers and provided plenty of service for Niang and Bacca.
“Cerci is an important player with good technique and an excellent shot. He’s hard to stop when taking men on.
“I am particularly happy that when 3-0 up we kept pushing and playing our game. There are some fixtures coming up that, on paper at least, could let us climb back up the table. With this attitude, I am convinced we’ll do well.”
President Silvio Berlusconi was expected to be in the stands, but did not attend this evening.
“I spoke to Berlusconi yesterday and told him not to go into the wrong locker room after the game. In the end he didn’t come. There will be other opportunities.”
In their last game at San Siro, a 0-0 against Atalanta, Berlusconi went into the opposition locker room to compliment them for their performance.
