Bologna are reportedly eager to increase their bond with Scottish football by making a bid for Verona left-back Josh Doig.

The 20-year-old has impressed in his debut Serie A season following a €3.6m move from Hibernian over the summer.

He already has two goals and two assists in just nine games for Hellas Verona, enjoying a more advanced wing-back role.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport and Calcionews24.com, this week’s friendly match between Bologna and Verona at the Stadio Bentegodi was also the opportunity to discuss Doig’s future.

Bologna have a real growing connection with Scotland, having relaunched the career of Aaron Hickey, while they currently have 23-year-old midfielder Lewis Ferguson in their ranks.

Ferguson too is in his debut Serie A season and really relishing life in Italy, scoring three goals in nine games.

It’s reported that Verona have placed an asking price of €8m on Doig, while Bologna would hope to whittle that down by including a player in an exchange deal such as Emmanuel Vignato or Nicola Sansone.
