The Nerazzurri and Osvaldo are reportedly suing each other, with the club apparently seeking €28m in damages from the on-loan Southampton player.

It was thought that the 29-year-old would be moved on in the winter transfer window, but a mooted move to Juventus collapsed as Inter wanted €500,000 to rescind the loan.

The Bianconeri refused those terms, and Southampton too were cautious about doing a deal, seeking guarantees that Osvaldo would not end up staying with them.

Today’s Corriere dello Sport points out that while the Portuguese transfer window is still open until tomorrow, a more likely option would be Argentina or Brazil.

Osvaldo was born in Buenos Aires, and according to the newspaper is a Boca Juniors supporter, although he has never played for them.

The sports daily says that Boca would therefore be the player’s preferred destination, as it looks unlikely that he can remain at Inter until the end of the season.
