Lucas Biglia says he chose Milan’s No 21 jersey due to “superhero” Andrea Pirlo and that he and Riccardo Montolivo can play together.

Speaking at a Press conference for Saturday’s clash with former club Lazio, Biglia spoke of his delight at joining a “world-class” team in Milan and admitted the opportunity of playing at San Siro each week was “a dream”.

“Injury-prone tag? It annoys me. I’ve only ever had three muscle injuries and joint problems,” he said at a Press conference.

“You’re not fragile if you take a knock. If you look at my history, I’ve always come back earlier than the recovery times given.

“Milan? We have a quality team, but we can’t talk about the Scudetto now. Lazio reception? I’m not expecting a nice welcome, but I won’t change my thoughts about Lazio.

“Bonucci? Leo’s one of the best in the world and gives you great guarantees. Having him in defence can give you so much.

“Pioli and Simone Inzaghi? They got the best out of me and Simone proved to be a great Coach.

“He’s a person with whom I had a great relationship and I’ll always wish him the best because we worked really well together.

“My career? Football has shown me that results are needed, not credit, but if I’m at Milan, it’s because I’ve done things well.

“I’m at a world-class club. It’s what I wanted and I hope to give my best here.

“Juve? They’re the favourites, they won the Scudetto last season. There’ll also be top teams like Napoli, Roma, Inter, Lazio and Atalanta. The team to beat are Juve.

“Game against Lazio? I don’t think it’s our real test. We’ve played against some stubborn teams in both in Italy and Europe.

“Lazio ended last season above Milan, they’re an organised team so it’s understandable.

“New signings? We’re making ourselves available to the Coach and we’re the ones that have to give something more, but we’re all doing it.

“We’ve integrated ourselves into the group, which is made up of some great lads. Each of us have to give more than 100 percent to Milan.

“Calhanoglu? He’s learning the language and this is important. He’s playing in a new role, he was used to playing further afield.

“He’s doing everything to fit in, but with time he will because he has great, technical quality.

“Milan’s objective? To qualify for the Champions League, but now we mustn’t burden ourselves with unnecessary pressure. The results have to be found and don’t come by chance.

“My move to Milan? I spoke to them for the first time last October-November. There was desire and ambition.

“Here, we must all feel important. There’s 26 of us and we’reall needed, especially when there are many games.

“No-one should feel more important than their teammate. We’re all working together for the same objectives.

“No 21? For me, Pirlo’s an idol. I’ve always liked watching him and when I played against him, I saw him as a superhero.

“He’s an example to follow, he’s won so much and it’s difficult to get to his level, but we want to win something as important as he did. It won’t be easy, but we’ll try.

“Playing with Montolivo? We did it against Cagliari. Riccardo can play as a ‘mezz’ala’ [roaming midfielder].

“He’s good at getting into the box and he can score. He has more quality than me in that regard.

“San Siro has always been a dream. Eleven years have passed since I played here for the first time. It’s great to be here now.”
