Beto made history with his hat-trick today, following in the footsteps of Antonio Di Natale for Udinese and Cristiano Ronaldo against Cagliari.

The centre-forward found the net three times in today’s 5-1 Serie A victory over Cagliari at the Dacia Arena.

It was a rare sight for a number of reasons, as nobody had scored a hat-trick for Udinese in the top flight since Di Natale.

The Italian achieved that in the 3-3 draw with Sampdoria on May 17, 2014.

That is not all, as Beto is only the second Portuguese player to get three goals in a single Serie A game, following in the footsteps of Cristiano Ronaldo.

CR7 did this twice for Juventus, but curiously both of those trebles – and Beto’s tally this afternoon – were scored against Cagliari.

Ronaldo netted three out of a 4-0 Juve home win on January 6, 2020.

He then did it again when the Bianconeri emerged 3-1 winners in Sardinia on March 14, 2021.
