Berlusconi was at the helm of Milan for over 30 years, including Ibrahimovic’s spell at San Siro beginning in 2010.

He sold the club to Yonghong Li, but remained in football, taking charge of Monza in Serie C.

When Berlusconi was asked if Ibrahimovic would return to Milan, he had a different agenda.

“I hope he comes to Monza,” the politician told news agency Ansa at a campaign event.

Napoli, Bologna, Roma and Manchester United are also believed to be interested in signing Ibrahimovic as a free agent following his LA Galaxy experience.
