The Nerazzurri are five points worse-off than they were at this stage last season, but one club legend has urged them to give De Boer time.

“It wasn’t all-that predictable that Juventus would accumulate all these points,” Bergomi, who made over 750 appearances for the Beneamata, insisted in an interview with Corriere dello Sport.

“They had a difficult schedule, immediately facing Fiorentina, Lazio and Sassuolo. Their skill lies in winning ugly games, as they did at Palermo thanks to an own goal.

“The other teams need to be able to pick up points even when they aren’t playing well.

“I think Inter need time to find the right balance, they’re a very attacking team and they tend to leave themselves exposed.

“A game like Roma-Inter ended 2-1, but it could easily have ended 4-3. I would give De Boer time.”
