Alessio Dionisi has confirmed that Sassuolo won’t be bringing Domenico Berardi for their clash with Napoli, but was confident that the winger would be available for the following game.

The 29-year-old Italian winger has been heavily linked with a move away from the Neroverdi this summer, initially attracting the attention of Lazio before Juventus reignited their interest.

Berardi was not part of Sassuolo’s squad for their season opener against Atalanta, officially due to poor fitness, but many believe that his exclusion is linked to the transfer market.

Speaking in a press conference today, Sassuolo coach Dionisi confirmed that Berardi wouldn’t be part of the squad for the trip to Napoli, saying: “He trained with the team but we evaluated not to bring him given his condition.

“He will definitely be 100% available for the next one, but I have and we have considered not bringing him tomorrow so that he can train for Verona,” he continued.

Berardi is seemingly pushing for the move to Juventus, but Sassuolo are not interested in losing their captain in the final week of the summer transfer window. Neroverdi director Giovanni Carnevali is insistent that the deal for the Bianconeri has already came and went, ruling out a move.
