Juventus have a midfield crisis on their hands, as Maurizio Sarri admits Rodrigo Bentancur could have a serious knee injury.

The Uruguay international limped off during last night’s 3-1 defeat to Lazio and Sarri’s initial comments were not reassuring.

“Bentancur will have the tests, the collateral ligament seems to be involved to some degree, we’ll see how much. Bentancur is a decisive player for us at the moment, so we missed him a great deal once he came off,” the coach told DAZN.

Miralem Pjanic was booked and Juan Cuadrado sent off against Lazio, so they will be suspended for next week’s match with Udinese.

Sami Khedira is out for three months following knee surgery, while Douglas Costa, Aaron Ramsey and Adrien Rabiot are also struggling with fitness problems.

“We’ll have to work something out over the next few weeks and see if we can resolve other situations quickly,” added Sarri.

“Federico Bernardeschi and Ramsey could probably be used in that role, so we’ll see about some tests there.”
