Bennacer joined Milan from Empoli last summer and has quickly settled into his new surroundings, making 23 appearances in all competitions.

“Wearing the Milan shirt is an incredible feeling,” he said during an Instagram Live session.

“It’s enough for me to see the badge of the Champions Leagues won on our shirt sleeves.

“I can’t wait to score at San Siro. I think I’d celebrate [my first goal] under the Curva Sud.

“I fell in love with Milan for the team, the club, the players who have been there in the past and those who are still there.”

The Algeria midfielder was then asked about his toughest opponent and the players he idolised growing up.

“Dybala,” he confessed, responding to the first question.

“I’m inspired by Iniesta, Pirlo and Xavi: I played as a No 10 growing up. When I was very young, I even played as a left-back.”

Finally, the 22-year-old revealed his best performance to date for the Rossoneri and his dream XI.

“Against Udinese in the Coppa Italia. I still have to improve in the recovery phrase and in passing between the lines, but above all I have to be more decisive.

“Dida in goal, with a defence made up of Cafu, Nesta, Maldini and Roberto Carlos; in midfield, Iniesta, Pirlo and Xavi; in attack, Messi, Ronaldo and Ronaldinho.”
