Serie A strugglers Benevento are reportedly considering a swoop for ex-Roma and Milan defender Philippe Mexes.

According to Il Mattino, Benevento have turned to Mexes after conceding 16 goals in their first six games of the season.

The 35-year-old has been a free agent since leaving Milan last year but has plenty of Serie A experience, playing almost 400 times for the Rossoneri and Roma.

The newspaper adds the Stregoni will target former Inter, Palermo and Parma stopper Paolo Dellafiore, who is also unattached, if Mexes cannot be brought in.
