“It wasn’t easy to react after Inter’s two goals,” Baroni admitted. “But we managed it and we played a great match.

“This confirms that the team is alive. The boys gave everything and believed until the end.

“We made Inter worry and we are on the right track.”

Benevento’s next chance to get off their mark comes after the international break when they travel to face fellow early-season strugglers Verona.
