Sinisa Mihajlovic described Torino’s 2-2 draw with Verona as 'absurd' after an astonishing late Scaligeri comeback.

The Granata appeared to be cruising to three Serie A points, leading 2-0 inside the final five mintes, but an injury to Andrea Belotti meant they were forced to play out the final stages with 10 men.

Then, two VAR assisted goals – including an injury time penalty – handed the newly-promoted visitors an unlikely share of the points.

Then, two VAR assisted goals – including an injury time penalty – handed the newly-promoted visitors an unlikely share of the points.

“It was an absurd game, incredible,” Serb Mihajlovic reflected after the final whistle at the Stadio Olimpico.

“We lost two points in a bad way. We could have won it by a lot and instead we drew.

“When you are stronger than your opposition you need to be sharp and sooner or later the goals will come.

“We did it in the first half but not in the second. We ended up with 10 men and we didn’t manage it well.”

Despite his disappointment, the Toro boss conceded that the decisions that enabled Verona to get back into the game were both correct.

“The decisions at the end were both correct, there was no offside and it was a penalty.

“VAR? Unfortunately we’re not lucky with the VAR, on two or three occasions they didn’t use it and we could have had four more points.

“It’s a positive thing and if it’s used properly, fine.”

With the international break coming up, Miha was asked about the extent of Belotti’s knee problem.

“Belotti has a knee problem, we will see but it is still early.”
