The Swiss international spoke to FirenzeViola.it ahead of Sunday’s meeting between his two former clubs, Fiorentina and Verona.

“I think Fiorentina are having a great campaign and are reflecting the quality of the squad, whereas Verona seem to be having a cursed season, many times losing when they deserved all three points.

“My memories of Verona are fantastic. Hellas launched my career in Serie B and it’s a marvellous city. I’d love to go back and play there.

“In Florence my rapport with the fans was unique even if, and this is a big regret, it didn’t end the way I had hoped.

“It’ll be a battle to the end for third place between Fiorentina and Roma, while for the Scudetto it’s clearly JuventusNapoli.”

How has Behrami settled into life in the Premier League at Watford?

“My season had started well, but then a red card and three-match ban changed things. Now I am back and I’m happy about that.

“I have a contract for another two years and an important European Championship to play this summer, then we’ll see what happens after that.

“I would like a return to Serie A, but the Pozzo family will have to make that decision.”
