Former Milan midfielder David Beckham has announced his retirement from football at the age of 38.
The ex-England captain will hang up his boots at the end of the season, five months after signing for Paris Saint-Germain.
“I'm thankful to PSG for giving me the opportunity to continue, but I feel now is the right time to finish my career by playing at the highest level,” he stated.

“If you had told me as a young boy I would have played for and won trophies with my boyhood club Manchester United, proudly captained and played for my country over 100 times and lined up for some of the biggest clubs in the world, I would have told you it was a fantasy. I'm fortunate to have realised those dreams.”
Beckham became a household name while at Manchester United, a club whom he joined as a 14-year-old.
In the summer of 2003, Becks left Old Trafford in favour of a move to Spain after Real Madrid paid around €35m for his signature.
The London-born player opted for a switch to the MLS in 2007 with LA Galaxy, but subsequently spent two spells on loan at Milan in 2008-09 and 2009-10.
In total, he scored two goals in 33 appearances for the Diavolo. His last game for Milan was in March 2010 in a tie against Chievo which saw him tear his Achilles tendon.
Beckham was capped on 115 occasions by his country, scoring 17 goals in the process.
