“I spent 90 per cent of my career at Fiorentina, then went to Roma and won the Scudetto. Evidently, these teams were part of my destiny,” Bati told Sky Sport Italia.

Among his teammates in that Giallorossi title-winning side was Eusebio Di Francesco.

“I must admit, I never expected him to become a Coach. At the same time, it’s very pleasing to see one of my old teammates go on to have such success. He did really well at Sassuolo and I hope he can continue doing well at Roma.

“I am studying to be a Coach myself. I want to learn and enrich my knowledge of the sport, but at the moment I am simply a student. We’ll see what happens in the future.”

Batistuta has never broken off the bond with Fiorentina or the city.

“I have always felt Florentine. I understood they are not a simple people to deal with and I appreciated the city. I actually feel better now than when I was playing, because I can have a walk around and have learned how to both receive and give back their affection. I feel more relaxed and Florence is now my home.”

There have always been Argentina internationals scoring goals in Serie A and this season is no different.

“My favourite was Gonzalo Higuain, but now the time has come for the likes of Mauro Icardi, Paulo Dybala, Giovanni Simeone and Lautaro Martinez.

“They are all young, very professional and determined. I wish them the best.”
