Just as Michel Bastos appeared to be heading to Napoli, it’s reported he has chosen Roma instead.

The player is ready to leave Al Ain on loan and had been extremely close to signing for Napoli, but Sky Sport Italia claim a sudden turnaround.

They maintain Bastos was frustrated at the red tape of their contract process and preferred to head towards the Stadio Olimpico instead.

“I can confirm I spoke to Napoli directors, but the affair isn’t finished the way they claim in France,” agent Marta Fisher had told CalcioNapoli24.it.

“The only advanced negotiations we have in Italy are with Roma, as Rudi Garcia was Michel’s Coach at Lille.

“At this moment the Giallorossi are clear favourites. We talked to Napoli, as with many other clubs around the world including Borussia Dortmund and Marseille. I can rule out Juventus” data-scaytid=”15″>Juventus, though.”

Bastos is a 30-year-old Brazilian left-sided midfielder who has played for the lines of Atletico Paranaense, Lille, Schalke 04, Olympique Lyonnais and joined Al Ain in August 2013. He has a French passport, so can be registered as an EU player.
