Lyon have rubbished reports that Michel Bastos will join Italian giants Milan before the January transfer window closes.

The Rossoneri have recently been paired with the left-back, but Lyon general director Bernard Lacombe insists the 27-year-old is going nowhere.

"Everyone is asking me about Milan and Juventus, but, for the time being, the player is not moving. His sale is out of the question," Lacombe told TMW.

"At this point in time we want to strengthen the team, not sell players."

However, Lacombe did admit that Milan transfer guru Ariedo Braida had recently visited the French club.

"It's true, he came here and we talked, but that doesn't mean that Bastos will be joining Milan," he continued.

"We also have to take into account a number of factors. Bastos is currently playing in the Champions League, if he went to Milan then he wouldn't be able to do so this term.

"You also have to consider that Bastos is a non-EU player.

"I don't know if the situation could change in the summer, but for the moment he isn't moving from here."
