In an interview with Rac1, the Blaugrana President reassured fans that Lionel Messi and Quique Setien will stay at Camp Nou beyond the current season.

But he wanted to avoid discussing the transfer market, as Lautaro Martinez €111m release clause expired today.

“We’ll talk after the season,” he told Rac1. “Let’s focus on the season for now.”

Juventus midfielder Miralem Pjanic’s move to Barcelona was made official last month, as Arthur Melo is set to move in the opposite direction.

Bartomeu claimed it was ‘exceptional’ to see a transfer completed in the middle of the season, as both players will see out the season before they move.

“I need to highlight that it was first of all from a sporting point of view, nothing to do with the budget.

“It’s exceptional that a player sees himself made official in the middle of the season. But this is a particular period.”
