Nicolo Barella’s upswing in form could prove the difference maker in Inter’s quest to defend their Scudetto this season.

The 25-year-old Italian midfielder scored the opening goal against Hellas Verona in yesterday’s 2-0 win, his first goal since the 2-1 win over Venezia back in January. It has not been an easy 2022 for the former Cagliari man as his form has dropped significantly over the last two months, coinciding with Inter’s drop in the title race and Italy’s failure to qualify for the World Cup.

As detailed by Calciomercato.com, Barella’s strong showing against Juventus and now top performance against Cagliari are wonderful signs for Simone Inzaghi, who is hoping to count on him being in-form for the remaining eight games of the season.

Barella could be an important boost in the title race with his decisive attacking contributions and an upswing in form could be what brings Inter the second star on their shirts.

  1. Barella is incredible. Best in the world when he’s in form. Italy are lucky to have him.
He’s like a combination of Xavi and Iniesta.
