Brazilian legend Marcos Cafu says it's only natural for Barcelona to be tracking Milan centre-back Thiago Silva.

The latter has been linked with the Nou Camp outfit for over a year and they are still monitoring his situation at San Siro.

"It's not wrong for Barcelona to be thinking of Thiago Silva," Cafu, formerly of Roma and Milan, told Mundo Deportivo.

"He's a great player.

"I respect Carlos Puyol, who has had a wonderful career with the club, but Barcelona's defence would be sorted out for years to come with Pique and Thiago Silva.

"The latter can also play in midfield, as he has done at Milan with Massimiliano Allegri," continued the World Cup winner.

"We are talking about a player who has it all – aerial ability, technical skill, speed and power. However, Milan won't want to let him go…"

The centre-back, who joined the Diavolo from Fluminense in January 2009, signed a new contract with the club until June 2016 last May.
