According to multiple reports in Italy, Fode Ballo-Toure has accepted a move to Werder Bremen, so Milan will now try to bring in Riccardo Calafiori from FC Basel.

Ballo-Toure was not part of the Rossoneri’s plans for this season and had been offered to Fulham and Bologna, but he rejected those options.

Now he has seemingly given the all-clear to Werder Bremen and the clubs are close to reaching an agreement for circa €4m.

Once that is completed, Milan will then turn to their target as a replacement, namely FC Basel left-back Calafiori.

The 21-year-old was sold to FC Basel by Roma only a year ago for €1m, with the Giallorossi also retaining 40 per cent of the sell-on fee.

An Italy Under-21 international, Calafiori has also been linked with Cagliari this summer.

He made 38 appearances for Basel last season, contributing one goal and three assists for the Swiss club.
