Coach Davide Ballardini wanted more ‘desire’ from his players and said ‘everyone isn’t playing for Genoa’ after the 0-0 draw with Venezia on Sunday.

The Rossoblu coach is under pressure after a difficult start to the campaign and the new owners are reportedly evaluating his future at the club.

Serie A | Genoa 0-0 Venezia: Marassi stalemate

On Sunday, it ended in a goalless stalemate with newly promoted Venezia, and the Grifone are now out of the relegation zone on goal difference.

But the coach was not entirely happy with the performance at the Marassi this weekend, claiming there are some players who lack the ‘desire’ to do well in the Rossoblu jersey.

“You need to know how to wear the Genoa shirt,” he told DAZN. “But the performance and the desire to want to win the game without conceding too much concerns the positive aspect.

“But not everyone is playing for Genoa, some guys feel the weight a little more.”
