Reports are growing that Tottenham Hotspur have contacted Antonio Conte amid crisis talks with Nuno Espirito Santo, but the Italian tactician would prefer Manchester United.

It was reported last night by Sportitalia transfer expert Alfredo Pedullà that Spurs had turned back towards Conte after they had negotiations over the summer.

The 3-0 defeat to Manchester United proved disastrous yesterday in the Premier League, prompting director Fabio Paratici and chairman Daniel Levy to call in their manager for crisis talks.

The decision has not yet been made on whether to fire Nuno Espirito Santo, but the situation is extremely tense.

Tancredi Palmeri also reports today that Tottenham have contacted Conte, who worked with Paratici at Juventus.

However, the same issues that prevented them signing the contract over the summer are still present and if anything even more pressing.

Conte feels the current squad requires a great many changes and Levy isn’t going to provide the budget required to fix those problems.

On top of that, Conte was also in talks with Manchester United over the last few days and would much prefer the Old Trafford club, because of prestige, the suitability of the current squad and their Champions League presence.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been given three games to save his job and already won the first against Tottenham.

He then faces Atalanta in the Champions League on Tuesday in Bergamo.

Multiple Italian sources are confident Conte would rather wait for Manchester United than accept the Tottenham role.

  1. Levy won’t bring in Conte because he will demand money in the transfer window. Whoever Levy brings in won’t be getting any backing, they’ll be expected to bring success on a budget.
