The Dutchman has long been rumoured to be a favourite target of Manchester United Coach Louis van Gaal, with continued whispers of a January bid.

However, the Giallorossi have consistently denied the possibility of a transfer and their director general was on message this week.

“I read about Kevin's transfer to Manchester United every day, and it's something even our President doesn't like,” Baldissoni has told Sky Sports News HQ.

“[James] Pallotta released a statement a few days ago saying that Kevin is not for sale.

“We received no offers from Manchester United and we don't intend to sell him because he is a young player, with a long contract that binds him to us.

“Roma want to build the team around him.”

Strootman returned as a starter in Roma's last Serie A game against Sassuolo after a knee injury that kept him off the pitch for nine months.
