Lazio full-back Manuel Lazzari has been diagnosed with a grade II tear to his flexor and will be out of action for up to two months.

The former SPAL talent had been playing well against Bologna at the weekend when he suddenly pulled up clutching his thigh.

The tests showed medical staff were right to fear the worst, as he has sustained a grade II tear to the flexor in his leg.

This type of injury requires at least a month on the sidelines, but as there is a break for international duty in March, it’s possible Lazzari won’t be back on the pitch in a competitive game for Lazio until the start of April.

The 28-year-old had struggled to settle in under Maurizio Sarri’s 4-3-3 tactics, as he was primarily a wing-back rather than a full-back.

Nonetheless, Lazzari still scored two goals and provided one assist in 21 Serie A appearances so far this season.
