Roma are expected to lose Stephan El Shaarawy for at least another two weeks after he sustained a calf injury.

The Little Pharaoh had been tipped to start against Sassuolo on Sunday, but was not even on the bench for the 2-2 draw.

According to Sky Sport Italia, that was because he felt a twinge in his calf muscle and the Giallorossi medical staff decided it was best to err on the side of caution.

Now tests have shown no tears in the muscular tissue, but El Shaarawy should still be out of action for at least a couple of weeks.

The former Milan, Monaco and Shanghai Shenhua forward has made 25 competitive appearances so far this season, contributing six goals and one assist.

He also suffered from a recurring calf injury that kept him out for several weeks in December and has not started a match since the 1-0 defeat at Bologna on December 1.
