Inter director Piero Ausilio hinted they will make a January bid for Javier Pastore. “We have to understand what Paris Saint-Germain want to do.”

The Nerazzurri face Milan in the Coppa Italia Quarter-Final this evening, follow the action as it happens on the LIVEBLOG.

“It’s a very important game to reach the Semi-Final of a tournament that we care about. We’ll play it to the best of our abilities,” the director of sport told Rai Sport.

“There’s no crisis, I think it’s only natural to lose a couple of games after five months. We are comforted by the fact they were unusual matches and they are slip-ups, so I think talk of crisis is exaggerated. We’re maintaining original expectations.”

The January transfer window is coming up, so will the Nerazzurri bring in fresh talent?

“Luciano Spalletti and the club believe a great deal in this squad. The team can improve, as everyone can. We are working for the market, because we consider ourselves to be a strong squad, but not a perfect one.”

Paris Saint-Germain creative midfielder Pastore has been mentioned as a potential new signing for Inter.

“I don’t think anyone can argue with his quality. We have to understand what PSG want to do. He is an important player, we are pleased that he sees Inter as a possibility, but it’s premature to talk about anything else.

“I know the limitations we must work within. We are not interested in just signing someone for the sake of it. We agreed the path forward with the Coach: keep the current group and improve it where possible, with players who have different characteristics and it depends on the economic conditions.

“We must be alert and take any opportunities that arise.”
