“Things didn’t go as predicted at Benfica,” member of his entourage Cesar Boaventura told Radio Renascença.

“It’s not down to a lack of quality from the player, but the choices of the Coach Rui Vitoria, who nobody can argue with.

“If he returns to Brazil or stays in Europe, what we are sure of is that he will play. He has the quality, a club must bet on him and the player will adapt to those conditions. Now he needs to play where he thinks is best.

“Gabriel is a great professional, a wonderful person, he never gives up and will find success wherever he goes.”
