Gomez had a dressing room bust-up with Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini who left him on the bench in the last three Serie A games.

The 32-year-old was subbed in against Juventus on Wednesday and according to La Gazzetta dello Sport he could start against Roma on Sunday.

The paper suggests Atalanta and their captain have agreed to act professionally for the good of the team, at least until Christmas.

There are now two games left before the break, against Roma and Bologna, and the Argentinean may start against the Giallorossi as he proved to be still extremely useful for Atalanta against Juventus.

The relationship with Gasperini remains tense and if the player had to leave the club, Atalanta won’t allow him to do it on a free transfer.

Previous reports in Italy had claimed Gomez wanted to leave for free with Milan, Inter and PSG interested but La Dea do not want to strengthen direct opponents without let them spend a penny and do not need to save the money of the player’s salary as the club is not in financial crisis.
