Reports in Italy continue to insist that Atalanta are attempting to hijack the Inter bid for West Ham United striker Gianluca Scamacca.

The initial offer of €20m plus bonuses was rejected and the Nerazzurri reportedly increased it today to €24m plus €4m in add-ons.

Sky Sport Italia transfer expert Fabrizio Romano maintains this is not sufficient, as the asking price is at least €30m including bonuses.

Meanwhile, the same source claims that Atalanta are determined to break in and stage their own coup for the centre-forward.

They are flush with cash after selling Rasmus Hojlund to Manchester United for a club record €75m plus €10m in bonuses.

The Hammers only purchased Scamacca a year ago for €36m plus €6m in add-ons and a 10 per cent cut of the sell-on fee going to Sassuolo.

Spanish site Relevo also confirm that Atalanta are pushing their way in for Italy international Scamacca.

He had been of interest to Roma, Milan and Juventus, but none of them were prepared to pay the asking price, mostly asking for a loan with option to buy.
