This is one of only two games going ahead in Serie A today due to the Coronavirus outbreak, as Lecce is not one of the areas with cases of the disease.

It is extremely odd that fans have been allowed to travel from Bergamo, considering Lombardy is by far the most badly-affected region with over 600 cases out of 1,200 in Italy.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Atalanta sold 201 tickets for the Lecce match, but only around 30-40 made the journey.

Those who are entering the Stadio Via del Mare are first checked outside by medics with masks and rubber gloves, subjected to a thermoscanner for their temperature.

This is the same system that has been used in many airports all over the world and not just in Italy.

If they show any symptoms, they are redirected for further tests to identify the presence of Coronavirus.

The situation has raised quite a few questions, because today fans have been allowed to travel from Lombardy to Lecce without any particular restriction.

However, this coming Wednesday it’s expected the Coppa Italia semi-final between Juventus and Milan will be played without allowing fans to travel from Lombardy.

This confusion and complete lack of consistency has spurred on more controversy among various clubs.
