Lucas Torreira, who has returned to Arsenal following his decent loan spell with Fiorentina, revealed that he spoke to Roma coach Jose Mourinho recently regarding a possible move.
The 26-year-old Uruguayan midfielder is no longer in Mikel Arteta’s plans in North London and he did do a good job of showing his qualities last season with the Viola. A permanent move seemed likely but miscommunication between the parties ultimately led to a transfer never materialising. He’s still looking for a new club now, not keen to remain stuck on the bench in the Premier League.
Speaking via Calciomercato.com, Torreira commented on his future and a recent conversation he had with Roma’s Mourinho.
“I spoke with Mourinho some time ago. He’s a coach I admire, it’s a possibility that entices me, but it’s not easy.”
The arrival of Fabio Vieira at Arsenal has furthered confirmed that Arteta has no plans to use Torreira, forcing him to find a new home now. He’s expressed a preference for either Serie A or La Liga and a move to either league is likely to come off later this summer.
