Venezia creative midfielder Mattia Aramu explains why it took him so long to make his mark in Serie A after scoring the equaliser to hold Juventus 1-1.

Alvaro Morata had opened the scoring by flicking a Luca Pellegrini cross at the near post, but Aramu cancelled it out after the break and neither side looked particularly likely to change that.

Paulo Dybala limped off with a suspected right knee problem just 12 minutes into the game at the Stadio Penzo, yet another injury for La Joya.

“We proved what we can do, because we got it wrong against Verona and it wasn’t an easy week, so we wanted to send a response to that second half performance.”

This was the first goal Venezia have scored this season from outside the penalty area.

“I always try from distance, sometimes it works the way it did today, sometimes less, but it is something I enjoy doing.”

Aramu is 26 years old, but only made his Serie A debut this season and now has five goals in 14 appearances. What took him so long to reach the top flight?

“It was a growth process, I wasn’t mature mentally, but for a couple of years now I’ve learned now to work and improve myself, so I made that step up.”

  1. Forza Aramu. Even though you broke my heart today.

There are many other Italian players buried in the lower leagues that are late bloomers or don’t get a chance because of stranieri.

He needs a look by Mancio in case Jorginho, Pellegrini, Pedro, don’t work out.

I want to see him in the Nations League matches in June. It will not surprise me if we qualify to the World Cup, and 11 months from now he is on the team.

    remember this message.
