New Roma signing Angeliño insists he ‘didn’t hesitate’ when told that the club wanted him, leaving Galatasaray and RB Leipzig.

The left-back turned 27 earlier this month and has signed on loan until the end of the season with an option to buy for circa €5m.

He had started the campaign with similar terms with Galatasaray, making 19 competitive appearances including six in the Champions League, but interrupted that spell after just six months to switch over to the Giallorossi.

“When I heard the word Roma, I didn’t hesitate. Today, I’m proud to be a part of a great club with an incredible history and a team full of champions,” Angeliño told the official Roma website.

“I’m excited to meet the coach and my new teammates and put myself at their disposal.”

He will wear the Number 65 jersey and help new coach Daniele De Rossi continue the shift from Jose Mourinho’s 3-5-2 formation to more of a 4-3-3.

“With Angelino, we welcome a fully matured player. We believe that his technical abilities, combined with his wealth of experience in the most competitive European leagues, can match and improve our squad’s potential,” added Roma general manager Tiago Pinto.

In order to make way and balance the books, the Giallorossi are in talks to send defender Marash Kumbulla to Sassuolo, Cagliari or Verona.

Andrea Belotti is also on the verge of joining Fiorentina on a dry loan until the end of the season.
