Empoli Coach Aurelio Andreazzoli thanked Napoli boss Carlo Ancelotti for the praise, but insists he is “fed up of receiving compliments rather than points.”
The final result was 5-1 at the Stadio San Paolo, although the possession statistics were largely even and Ancelotti declared Empoli had played “much better” than his own team.
“I thank Ancelotti and had no doubts he’d analyse the game that way,” Andreazzoli told Sky Sport Italia.

“I thank Ancelotti and had no doubts he’d analyse the game that way,” Andreazzoli told Sky Sport Italia.
“We cannot be expected to pick up the results that’ll secure our safety at the San Paolo, but considering the performance, I would’ve liked a result more suited to the way the match went.
“Leaving here having conceded five goals is a little irritating. As in all situations, there’s some positive to be found and we know that next week our fixture list should calm down a little. I’m frankly a bit fed up of receiving compliments rather than points.”
Empoli lost to Serie A leaders Juventus last week after another very strong performance, where they had taken the lead.
“I don’t see a big difference between Napoli and Juve. We played the same way we always do, but the truth is we gifted them a couple of the goals and we conceded with practically every shot they had on target.
“Clearly, when you are building play from the back and pass it straight to an opponent, that’s not a counter-attack, that’s an act of stupidity. We are working to limit these errors to a minimum, but if we want to compete in Serie A, we cannot lose sight of the idea that we’re here to play our football. We continue our pursuit of quality.”
