Carlo Ancelotti explains why he rejected a return to Milan last summer – “I needed a few months' rest”.

Toward the end of Filippo Inzaghi’s tenure on the Rossoneri bench, it was announced that Carletto had been sacked by Real Madrid.

That saw CEO Adriano Galliani to fly to the Spanish capital in order to convince the Coach to return to San Siro.

However, Ancelotti rejected that opportunity, with Sinisa Mihajlovic appointed instead, and explained the choice in a Press conference today.

That saw CEO Adriano Galliani to fly to the Spanish capital in order to convince the Coach to return to San Siro.

However, Ancelotti rejected that opportunity, with Sinisa Mihajlovic appointed instead, and explained the choice in a Press conference today.

“It’s always special to play against Milan,” the Bayern Munich Coach said ahead of a friendly in the USA tomorrow.

“It was my home for many years. I have good memories, it will always be a special club for me.

“Why didn’t I go back? It’s a decision I took wisely, I needed a few months of rest and that’s why I didn’t make the commitment to Coach the Rossoneri again.”

A Chinese consortium is in talks to buy the Diavolo from Silvio Berlusconi, and Ancelotti was asked for his opinion.

“I can’t imagine a Milan without Berlusconi.”
