Carlo Ancelotti admits he spoke to Florentino Perez after Real Madrid’s loss against PSG in the Champions League and confirms the Merengues are trying to strengthen their squad amid Kylian Mbappé transfer rumours.

The Italian tactician faced the media ahead of tomorrow’s La Liga clash against Alaves. Real Madrid suffered a 1-0 loss against PSG on Tuesday with Kylian Mbappé scoring a late winner against his potential future club.

The contract of the French star in Paris expires at the end of the season and the Ligue 1 giants are trying everything they can to persuade him to stay in Paris.  There are reports that the French club has offered Mbappé almost €50m per season to convince him to stay at the Parc des Princes.

“I am paid really well for what I do and I am privileged,” Ancelotti said at a press conference, as quoted by Marca.

“However, I like what I do and not the money that I get.”

So, does the Italian coach hope to welcome Mbappé in the summer?

“We have a competitive team, but we are preparing things for the future,” he admitted. “We try to improve every season.”

“Mbappé hurt us, but we have three weeks to prepare another game against him.”

What was Florentino Perez’s reaction to Real Madrid’s Champions League defeat?

“I spoke to the President and everyone at the club,” revealed the former Milan and Chelsea coach.

“They are hurt like we are, the image we offered was not good. The result is not the biggest problem because it can be changed, what was worse, was the image.”
