Carlo Ancelotti admits Napoli’s position in the Serie A table “makes us cry a little bit” after their 0-0 draw with Torino yesterday.

Napoli fell six points off the pace in the title race after they failed to break down Toro, whereas Juventus beat Inter 2-1 to move top of the pack.

“It was a hard-fought game,” Ancelotti said after the game.

“We did enough but lacked a bit of efficacy up top. We were too shy when it came to finishing our chances.

“Our position makes us cry a little bit. I think we’re missing the three points we had to take against Cagliari.

“The team were committed against a Torino side who put in a lot and also did so in this match.

“What we’re experiencing aren’t outages. Before, we were very strong up top and suffered at the back.

“Now, things have turned upside down. We were a bit lacking in terms of posing a threat. We must go back to being clinical.

“In our last few games, we’ve only conceded one goal against Cagliari. It’s natural, these are problems that everyone’s had.”

Hirving Lozano was a club-record 40m capture from PSV over the summer, but the forward has just one goal after seven games…

“It’s normal that he needs time to adapt,” maintained the Coach.

“He must adapt to the team. He played more open, he showed glimpses and was dangerous every time he got the ball.

“Usually when things aren’t going well, we talk more about grit and determination. The team put a shift in, we were just lacking in terms of quality and that’s what we need to find in our next few games.

“Football’s very strange. Up until a week ago, there was talk of a defence that shipped too many goals. Now our attack is being talked about.

“We must find balance between the two phases of play.”
