Napoli Coach Carlo Ancelotti believes he has “a high-level squad” at his disposal, and admits he doesn’t have “a particular style”.

The former Milan and Real Madrid boss was appointed by the Partenopei in the summer, and he spoke to France Football about his latest job.

“It’s a different Napoli today,” Ancelotti said in a preview of the interview, which will be published in full in tomorrow’s edition.

“We don’t have Maradona, but a high-level squad has been built, in particular with young players.

“Napoli have been playing well for several years now, so the quality is there. I’ll try to bring some experience, help the team to have more personality and courage in the moments where we aren’t playing so well.

“There’s no particular ‘Ancelotti style’, because I base the way I play on the characteristics of my players.

“Some Coaches start with a philosophy of play and try to fit players into that, I look at the players I have and adapt my style to suit them.”

In his time at Real Madrid Carletto worked with Cristiano Ronaldo, who moved to Juventus in the summer.

“The arrival of Cristiano is excellent for the image of Serie A. For a long time it was the league of superstars: Maradona, Platini, Zico, Zidane, Ronaldo, Shevchenko, Kaka, Ibra…

“It’s been less the case in the past 10 years, the arrival of Cristiano will restore it. He’s an immense professional, his only mistake was going to Juve!”

The Italian is also a former Paris Saint-Germain Coach, and he was asked about the progress of his former side.

“I don’t think there was the will to adopt a totally Italian culture,” Ancelotti said of his time at the Parc des Princes.

“Above all the desire was to bring a high-level culture: professionalism and quality.

“It’s nice to see how the club is growing, they’re one of the best in Europe. PSG can win the Champions League, that’s for sure.”
