Carlo Ancelotti has revealed just how close he was to returning to Milan last year but insists he was right to take a break from football.
Ancelotti was offered the chance to manage Milan a second time after his sacking by Real Madrid, but the Coach opted for a sabbatical and underwent back surgery before succeeding Pep Guardiola at Bayern Munich.
“It wasn’t such a long a year without coaching. I didn’t miss football,” he told L’Equipe.

“I still saw so much of it on television. I was in Vancouver, I went fishing, running … It was a good time to rest.
