Napoli Coach Carlo Ancelotti insists he is building towards an end to the Juventus dominance. “I am here to win the Scudetto, not on vacation.”

The Partenopei have secured second place, but there were protests from some fans after failing to hit the heights of Maurizio Sarri’s team last year.

“After a full season here, I know everyone better and I understand the direction we are going in. Napoli wants to grow with a serious and healthy project,” the 59-year-old tactician told newspaper Il Roma.

“Foolishness is no longer part of the world of football, we respect Financial Fair Play. I don’t want the club to go into debt, but improving the team doesn’t only depend on me.

“As I said when I first arrived, I am here to win the Scudetto, I’m not here on vacation.”

The Azzurri have second place in the table locked down, but are 13 points behind Champions Juventus on 73 with three games left to play.

“Juve proved to be difficult to keep pace with, but the fixture list at the start of the season made life hard for us. We want to finish the season on a high note and reach 80 points. We will not make life easy for anyone.”

Predecessor Maurizio Sarri walked away after clashes with President Aurelio De Laurentiis, but Ancelotti insists there are no issues.

“I don’t have any particular strategy in dealing with De Laurentiis, the President is manageable. From the first time we met, he has supported me, and we have a good understanding.

“To win something you have to have an identity and have clear ideas on how to achieve that. The formation can vary, but you must be able to attack and defend.

“That was where we went wrong this season. When we had to defend, when we had to suffer, we couldn’t do it.”

Napoli crashed out of the Champions League group phase, but only on goal difference to Liverpool, while they were eliminated by eventual Europa League Finalists Arsenal in the quarter-finals of that tournament.

“It is a small consolation that the two teams we went out to in Europe are competing in the finals of both the Europa and Champions League.

“I hope Maurizio Sarri lifts the trophy. I will support Chelsea, because I’m a former Coach of the Blues and I am still close to them.
