Sofyan Amrabat believes Fiorentina can follow in the footsteps of Roma and win the Europa Conference League this season. ‘I think it is possible for us.’

They finished runners-up in their group and today visit SC Braga in the first leg of the play-offs.

“The World Cup is different to the club season, but the best thing about this sport is winning,” Amrabat told the official UEFA website.

“Here at Fiorentina we have marvellous fans who are always by our side, even away from home. They can really push us forward.”

The Viola started badly in this tournament, but qualified for this round after a run of four consecutive victories.

It is very different to their domestic form, picking up just one point from the last five Serie A rounds, yet they are in the Coppa Italia semi-final against Cremonese, so they seem more suited to cup competitions.

“We want to win titles and I think we must try to do it in the Conference League. Last season Roma won it, so I think it is possible for us,” added the Morocco international.

The Europa Conference League was inaugurated last season and Jose Mourinho’s Roma lifted the trophy in Tirana after a Final victory against Feyenoord.

Fiorentina did win the Cup Winners’ Cup in 1961 and the Mitropa Cup in 1966.
