Cagliari and Milan had agreed to swap goalkeepers Amelia and Federico Marchetti, but the 2006 World Cup winner blocked the switch.

"I know Cagliari boss Roberto Donadoni very well," the custodian, who was signed outright by Milan just this summer from Genoa, stated to Radio Radio.

"He asked me if I wanted to go and play for him, but, after thanking him for the opportunity, I told him that I didn't want to leave Milan."

Amelia added that there was only one club who could tempt him away from Milanello – hometown side Roma.

"I'd leave only for the Giallorossi," he added.

The 28-year-old, who will again probably be a reserve to Christian Abbiati next term, started his career in the Giallorossi youth sector, but he never made a Serie A appearance for the club.

He left Roma in 2001 to join Livorno and has since also played for Lecce, Parma, Palermo and Genoa.
