The Rossoneri have had a mixed start to life under Vincenzo Montella, winning three games, losing two and drawing once.

“It’s a team that undoubtedly has the potential,” Ambrosini, who played over 400 games for the Diavolo, told MilanNews.

“They’ve shown great charisma, definitely with flaws, but with ideas. We need to allow time for the team to assimilate to these ideas, but the good thing is that this period has shown the defence is solid, especially in recent games.

“Montella? I think he’s a very capable and ambitious Coach with good ideas. This is definitely the right squad for his philosophy, with a very young team with a lot of room to grow.

“Montella has shown courage and proved that young people must be waited for and managed, though Milan are fortunate in that they have young players who have shown themselves to be ready.

“You need to be patient, you can’t expect them just to explode right away. Milan are a team that, right now, will find it difficult to compete at the top of the League but I’m sure when the ownership situation is clear-cut they’ll make some big signings to challenge at the top.”
