Massimo Ambrosini and Alberto Aquilani are not happy at picking up a point in Minsk. “It's a shame, we should've won.”
Milan had been leading 1-0 at half-time through Zlatan Ibrahimovic, but were held 1-1 by BATE Borisov after a soft penalty.
“I don't know if it was a penalty or not, but the fact remains we should've finished off the game with a second goal,” said Ambrosini.
“At international level it can happen that they catch you up. It's certainly a shame, as we had so many chances to make it 2-0.
“Now we'll have to battle for first place with Barcelona, even though it looks as if we'd have to beat them at San Siro to make that happen now. We also wanted to dedicate a victory to Antonio Cassano, but we have been reassured as to his condition.”
Aquilani was naturally also asked about Cassano, who is in hospital with a mystery illness.
“I talked to Antonio via text message and he told me he's relaxed. I've known him for many, many years and he often helped me out. I care for him and this news shocked all of us, so we can't wait to hug him,” said the former Roma man.
“We wanted to come here and get the three points, but instead we didn't finish off the game despite a well-played first half and bring back an unconvincing point.
“It felt as if we switched off after conceding the goal, BATE gained confidence and that prompted the result. If Barcelona win tonight, then we're practically qualified, so we can focus on finishing first later on.”
