The forward, who moved to the Florentine outfit this January from Juventus, scored La Viola’s match-winning goal away to Milan on Saturday, to earn a surprise three points for his struggling side and inadvertently also help Juve retake top spot in the table.

“It was a great feeling because it was my first in the Viola shirt and because it was an important goal – it was also nice because the next day I celebrated 10 years of marriage,” Amauri reflected to Viola Channel on Monday.

“During the week we felt that we could lose to Milan at the weekend, but we were lucky and also clinical – we suffered, but took advantage of every opportunity we had.

“I knew the Juve fans would have been pleased, but I did not have Juve in mind after I had scored. It was a coincidence that my goal has helped Juventus – I was even laughing.”

The Brazilian-born forward, who has been capped once by Italy, implored his teammates to make the most of the win at Milan by following it up against his former side Palermo on Wednesday.

“We must now begin again from the win at San Siro. Often, since I have arrived, we have played well but lost games.

“On Wednesday, however, we cannot fail – we have to return to the Fiorentina of a few years ago, that wasn’t scared at all.”
