With Barcelona to come on Wednesday night, there were immediately fears that Dybala could miss the Champions League Quarter Final second leg.

“It was an impact where he twisted it, there’s reason to be optimistic,” Allegri told Mediaset Premium.

“The lads did well to win today, but we had to manage the game better and not waste our energy. It was hot, it was all a chase and we didn’t use the space well.

“The lads were good but we could have done better with the ball in the second half, the ball didn’t glide well but the pitch was beautiful.

“Juan Cuadrado? He has room for improvement, sometimes he gets kicked because he doesn’t release the ball quickly enough, so he needs to improve in that. He’s becoming important though.”

Allegri was then asked about the Barcelona game.

“Barcelona will come at us right away, the first half hour will be very important. We need to play for a goal, a bit like in Naples [in the Coppa Italia].

“We need to play with courage and self-belief, we have the chance to reach the Semi-Final and it won’t be easy.

Roma dropped two points at home to Atalanta, allowing the Bianconeri to move eight points clear, is the Scudetto race over?

“Currently Roma can get 90 points, which means we need to get 91,” Allegri replied.

“There are still difficult games to come, we’re thinking about Wednesday and then Genoa.”
